BuddyGuards is a crowd-sourced security network that connects neighbors in an urgent, action-driven, context. Based on our users’ home addresses, our algorithms automatically construct a neighbor-based security circle; in cases of sudden risk, BuddyGuards’ users broadcast an emergency alert which is then communicated to the fastest, closest responders. Users may further keep track of events and group chat. BuddyGuards further supports connections with the neighborhood’s home alarm systems, such that when a home alarm is triggered, the app sends a push notification to everyone in the relevant group. The product was designed specifically to improve the safety and security of families in suburban communities in the US, a particular high-risk category. With an estimated annual 9 million property crime offenses and 2.1 million house break-ins, we believe a clear need for our quid-pro-quo solution is well established. Our goal is to help build safer communities.
