We developed mPharma to provide clinicians in pharma-emerging markets (starting in Africa) with mobile prescription management tools. We are building a pharmaceutical database that enables pharmaceutical companies to gain access to real-time data on physician prescription habits, disease trends, market analysis and patient drug consumption behavior. As the pharmaceutical market in Africa is growing (estimated by IMS Health to reach $45 billion by 2020), the need to create an analytics platform is necessary yet the paper driven nature of the healthcare sector makes it impossible to do this. We worked out of the Microsoft Research lab in Israel to build the platform and launched a pilot in Zambia with the Health Ministry where we managed prescriptions for over 700 patients.
