Sha'ked has developed a very simple and effective solution against Harmful Algal Blooms caused by Cyanobacteria. Cyanobacteria contaminate fresh water bodies on a global scale rendering their water unusable (drinking, fishing, recreation, etc.). An example to this acute problem was demonstrated by the State of Emergency declared in Toledo, Ohio last August. In a report issued recently by the European Commission it was stated that the damage from Cyanobacteria caused to the Spanish, Greek and Italian economies alone are estimated at EURO 300 million annually! Sha'ked has conducted a field trial in Alabama in which it demonstrated that its product can cause the bacteria population in the water to collapse within hours from treatment and stay at acceptable levels for a long period of time. Effectively, the product allowed the ecosystem to return to its natural equilibrium. Additional field trials and discussions for the immediate commercialization of the product are in progress.
